Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the Hollow. This carrd should help you get a basic idea of what this linkshell/ FC is about. The next few pages will cover what you can expect from us - and what's expected of you - should you choose to join our ranks!

Before we begin, there are a few things you should know.

If you can get past the three bullet points to the right, then carry on and see what we can offer!

The Hollow is 18+ and requires that its members meet that age restriction.

While adhering to strict lore guidelines is both admirable and impressive, we at the Hollow are not particularly concerned with that. The story of this linkshell incorporates (long ago) influence from the First. If reading that gives you an aneurysm, fair enough, we hope you find somewhere better suited to you!

We are an openly LGBTQ+ friendly space, both in character and out, and expect prospective members to either respect that or, at the very least, keep opposing views to themselves.

Your Faerie Tale Adventure

So, you made it this far! Let's take a look at exactly what you could be getting yourself into!

Foster's Hollow is a self-contained linkshell that offers a spiffy fae setting, an overwhelming amount of pastels, and a convoluted, mysterious plot.

We have a nice medium house that acts as the catalyst for most of our plot and is attached to the Foster's Hollow free company.

You do not need to be a member of the FC to participate in the Hollow story.

The Amethyst Hollow cannot be found by just wandering across it - you have to be given access to it via the key granted by the house. This keeps the world contained and the shenanigans that take place in there from spilling over.

Members who join have the option to choose between total lucidity in the Hollow or a poor resistance to the Hollow's magicks, enabling them to move freely between the world of the Hollow and the rest of Hydaelyn without remembering or being burdened/effected by their morally dubious adventures.

To join, please contact one of the following people in game or on discord!

The Story of Foster's Hollow

Originally the home of a wayward pixie that travelled from the First and lost the ability to get home, the Amethyst Hollow that houses our fair cottage is born from and steeped in some of the most mischievous magic known to us.

The pixie, known once as Ryl Lan, left no real knowledge of what became of them after they found themselves stuck in this terribly boring world of ours. But whatever they did to lay down roots in Eorzea seems to have taken on a mind of its own. The roots go deep, and dig prying fingers into the heart of the world, drawing on its surroundings and the souls of those who it calls to live within its walls to feed it for some unknown purpose.

Anyone can be chosen to dwell within the labyrinthine halls of the Hollow - and make no mistake, you are chosen to live there - which makes for some very strange bedfellows. Though there doesn’t appear to be any real rhyme or reason behind the souls called to make their homes there, there can be no question that they are picked to serve a purpose.

From crafters to entertainers, from killers to botanists, anyone can be given a key if the Hollow sees in them a use.

And use them it does.

Every creature and person that has ever lived inside the Hollow leaves a bit of themselves behind when they depart, be it through will or the loss of their lives, and with every bit of someone it takes into itself, the will of the Hollow grows stronger.

The Window

Just inside the front door of the Hollow a window sits to the right. It cannot be opened, cannot be broken, and is never dark. On the other side of it, a beautiful world is displayed like a painting, all bold, bright colours and sweet, picturesque buildings.

To be near it is to feel joy, to press your palm to the glass is to be energised. It is a source of benign happiness and soft songs in the night.

The Fountain

A bit further in lies a large fountain.

The fountain is imposing, corded off from the rest of the house by a series of tall archways. Above each one is a painting of some alien world. Like the window, they show too bright colours and whimsical patterns in the sky.

The bubble of the water sounds like high giggles, and the entire room thrums with an ancient, sparking sort of magic that leaves the hair on one’s arms standing on end and a happy hum of motivation singing through one's veins.

The water tastes sweet, and never seems to run out. One feels the impulse to step into it and follow the sounds of laughter down, down into something new and unknown. But it’s a silly impulse, and can be shaken off easily.
